THE FINAL CHAPTER of The Adventures of Rel Rel: Lost Mirror Audio Book is up, and posted! We had the wonderful opportunity to work with some amazing voice talent, and we wanted to take a moment to thank Karen Hayman for lending her voice to Mother! Originally, Jen was going to try, but didn’t feel like her voice fit the character very well. Then, J.J. messed around with the idea of having Mother and Father simply be musical sounds (like in the Peanuts cartoons) with subtitles. Neither of us liked how it came out.
WE DECIDED TO POST an audition on the Voice Acting Club, looking for a voice actor to fill the position of Father, Mother, and a new Narrator. We received a lot of really good auditions for the role of Mother! However, after listening to all of them, we decided that there was one person in particular that fit what we hoped for in the character of Mother.
WE WERE INSTANTLY impressed with Karen’s Voice Demo, and when we heard her lines for our character, we knew she was perfect! Mother is a cold, and distant, character meant to be the opposite of Father, who is loud, boisterous, and as some have told us, down right mean. Karen was able to give Mother life, with a voice that gave a quiet, yet cruel, overall response to Rel Rel. We love it!
WE REALLY ENJOYED WORKING with Karen! Not only does she have an amazing voice, but she was also very wonderful to work with. She was always polite, very professional, and returned our emails in a timely manner. When we had lines that we wanted reread, she finished them promptly, and shot them back to us quickly. She was a joy to work with, and we hope to be able to work with her again, in future projects!
