I WANTED TO WRITE this post to address a lot of the projects that we’ve attempted and have fallen through. Over the past year or so that this site has been live, Jen and I have been trying to create a bunch of different things, based around our book. Cosplay. Audio Book. Animation. Point and click game. And of all those ambitions, only the Audio Book came to fruition.
ESSENTIALLY ANY OTHER PROJECT that is not the Audio Book, and has not been completed and published to our site, is dead in the water. The Rel Rel cosplay isn’t going to happen. The Point and click game isn’t going to happen. Things fell through and we are now moving on and letting those projects disappear.
ALL THOSE SHORTS THAT I was hoping to animate are no longer going to happen. Which is a shame, since we worked with Heidi Tabing and Anna Clarkson again and they recorded all the parts for the animation wonderfully. However, it’s just too much of an undertaking for me to take on and I’ve finally come to terms that I’m not an animator. As much as I’d like to be, and as much as we’d like to see more animations of our work. It just isn’t going to happen.
LASTLY, I WANTED TO BRING up our new policy with working with people. We won’t drop names, or say what happened, but we will expect periodic updates from people we’re working with. There have been some people that we’ve worked with that we never heard from again. This has happened more than once. More than a few times, actually. It’s frustrating. Jen and I try to give the people we work with some breathing room, and we allow them to get back to us in their own time. We understand that everyone is busy.
BUT IF MONTHS GO BY without a single email, updating us on how the project is going? We start to get concerned. Most of the time the people we work with are understanding, and they update us in a reasonable amount of time. We deeply appreciate those individuals. It means a lot to us. But there’s the rare few that we begin to work with, we hear from them for awhile, and then the emails stop. We send emails, with no reply. They just vanish?
ALL WE ASK IS THAT you let us know how you’re doing. If you can’t make a deadline, or you need more time, or outside issues are keeping you from being able to finish, that is not a problem. This is a small project for us, a labor of love, and we understand there are other priorities. Just let us know. Don’t just drop off the face of the planet and never contact us again. That’s upsetting and unprofessional. Just let us know and we’ll work with you. We don’t need a detailed email, or a full update. Just drop us a line or two and let us know your situation. That’s all we ask.
WE DO HOWEVER, amidst all these failed projects, have some interesting things in the works. Maybe they’ll work out. Maybe they won’t. But we’re excited! Take care, and thank you for reading. Cheers!
